I’ve had a rather awesome few days. After a mad rush to meet deadlines last week, I gave myself the weekend off for fun, relaxation and frolics. Lexi bought us tickets to see England People Very Nice at the National Theatre. It really was fantastic, though I think those who are easily offended should avoid it! We also shared the deliccccious crepe pictured above, filled with ice cream, chocolate brownie and chocolate sauce. Oh my. I’ve dreamt of it every night since.
I found out the other day that my last ever SOAS exam is on the 13th of May, which means noooo moooorreee deggggrreeeeee aaaaahhhhhhh. Then I get to go to Mexico and Indonesia and not think about life for a bit! Yaaaay.
On the last Friday of term I went to a screening of an Indonesian film called Berbagi Suami (means: to share a husband) about polygamy in modern Indonesia. Really fantastic film. Then I got talking to this doctor who lived in Indonesia for years and years and worked in various NGOs and organisations including the UN. I talked to him about a law conversion course and he seemed to think that out of my preferred options, a law conversion would probably increase my employability. It’s a daunting prospect, but I’d have to be realistic and take the course over 2 years if I do decide to go down that route. There’s no way I could save up enough money to pay 7 grand or so tuition AND enough money so that I wouldn’t have to work for a whole year. If I do the course part-time, I’ll still be able to work part-time so it makes a lot more sense. I’m going to be so old by the time I’m actually qualified to do anything. Especially if I still have my eye on a master’s degree by then. Bleh.
In other news, here’s my mum’s new kitten:
