Those are kind of old but I haven’t posted properly in a while! Lots of sitting in parks, having silly conversations and laughing at tales of my friends’ drunken antics. I don’t really like drinking much at the moment, so I’m leaving crazy drunkard behaviour to my friends!
I’m sitting here in my parents’ living room surfing the net and chatting on msn. What struck me just now is that I’m having four conversations on msn, and every conversation is with a guy friend. I really don’t have many girlfriends whom I speak with on a regular basis. My girlfriends and I have the kind of friendships which go ‘HEY!’, ‘Oh HEEEEY!’, ‘I haven’t seen you for ages!’, ‘Yeah I know, I’ve been mega busy!’, ‘Let’s eat!’, ‘And have some rosé!’. Weird. I think it’s because it’s okay to chat complete rubbish with guy friends and if you offend them they’ll generally give you a kick then get over it. With most girls things become so much more complicated.
Working with Stand Up For Africa has been really fantastic. I had to call up businesses today and ask them for donations, which was HORRIBLE. I hate speaking to people I don’t know on the phone. I absolutely hate it. The first few calls were high-pitched and stuttery but I felt so much better after some practice runs. It also helped that I was calling on behalf of a fantastic charity. I guess it’s a good skill to learn seeing as it’s something I’ve avoided like the plague until now.
I’ve been thinking about what I might want to do after I graduate from university. I feel like just taking off for a while. I’ve had enough of being tied down by responsibilities and routines. A few months travelling and exploring is on the cards, I think. It’s just a matter of where. I’ll have to have a think about it.
